"Presbyterians on the Frontier" is the culmination of four years research, site visits, and interviews seeking to capture the stories of those who have served in Presbyterian Border Ministry (PBM). Seeking to tell the story in context a chapter outlines the circumstances on the border when PBM was founded, PBM's vision for a new mission approach, and how it responded to border conditions through its vision of binational mutual partnership. It finishes with chapters on the present conditions on the border and the attempts of PBM to meet new challenges including overcoming the conflict between the national churches that founded PBM.

Author Biography

Parrish W. Jones, Ph.D. is a retired minister of the Presbyterian Church (USA) and has served churches in Florida, Pennsylvania and Virginia. He holds a B.A. in Religion, a M.Div. in theology, and a M.A. and Ph.D. in philosophy. He has written numerous articles for the Presbyterian Church News Service about missions and other subjects and for "Presbyterians Today". His ministry has included extensive volunteer mission work with Presbyterian Border Ministry and in Colombia where he taught systematic theology at the Reformed (Presbyterian) University in Barranquilla.
